Political risk in Albania has fallen, Aon Risk Services reported in annual data.

Albania is classed as medium risk, hampered by the legal and regulatory sectors and exchange transfers, AON, a global risk management and insurance brokerage said in a statement.

Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia and Slovenia are medium-low risk, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and FYR Macedonia medium-high.

"Rising risk levels in 2009 have led to a significant volume of credit and political risk claims in international insurance markets,” noted Miles Johnstone, director of  the political risk team at AON (www.aon.com).

The company's Political and Economic Risk Map is a benchmark review of political and economic risks facing corporations doing business globally.

Political risk assessment uses proprietary financial analysis software combining country risk information, industry factors, and company-specific data to identify and prioritize the political and economic risks, and associated financial exposure.
